"The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the
beginning of a happier life for ourselves."
--Helen Keller
By choosing to connect my marathon walk to charity, I feel that my marathon experience has taken on a much deeper dimension. It is about so much more than walking 26.2 miles. It is an act of support, love and commitment for a cause that is very important to me. This experience is not only about enhancing my health, physical endurance and spirit, it is about improving the lives of others. I truly feel that raising money for Other Worlds of Wonder and working to obtain then maintain Pagan land is important.
I hear people talking about the many reasons we want and need Pagan land. I hear that the community I am part of would like to know when we have a festival or retreat that we can do what we want to without being overseen by people that really have little clue what our spirituality is about. I know many that would like to have burial space, even if they have no plans of being buried. These people still would like a Pagan space for their burial rites to be done and a place that family can come and commune with spirit in their own way without judgment. Many would like to see a space to live, commune, camp, have fairs, and educate. I see all of the above and I see this all as connection.
"The power of imagination makes us infinite." --Unknown
I look at all the "Pagan babies" from this community and wonder what will become of them. Will they (and we) be sucked into the urban cesspool, and lose any real connection to our Earth and our deities? Will Pagan culture go the way of so many other cultures in the city, disconnected and often lost from the source of power?
A community that gathers a few times a year is so weak to me. Building that level is hard enough. Now is the time to step up to this larger task. Will you help save the Pagan babies and ourselves?
Let us build them something to really treasure: a pagan based land community!
